I’m cami the english coach!

I am a TEFL-Certified ESL tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience to thousands of students all across the globe.

In 2013, I moved to South Korea to teach English to children for five years. But after moving back to the United States in 2018, I decided to make the switch to teaching online to help students around the world with everything from conversational speaking, TOEFL and Cambridge exam preparation, and writing corrections for essays and graduate theses.

In 2022, I realized that there was a gap in the Online English Education market for flexible and affordable online English education for overwhelmed adults and busy teens, so I started Cami’s English Corner, an online education platform aimed to help students learn English in a fun, judgement-free, and relaxed setting that fits hectic schedules.

My ultimate goal is to help students feel like their most confident selves when speaking in English so that they can achieve their educational, professional, and personal dreams.

My Approach

I will tailor-fit your tutoring sessions to fit exactly what you need to achieve your goals! I have specific and effective techniques to work on all areas of English: reading, writing, pronunciation, and speaking. Most importantly, I want to help you feel confident with your English skills, so I provide a comfortable and supportive (and fun!) environment for you to practice English.

After determining exactly what your goals are, we will create a study plan that realistically fits your busy schedule so that you can seamlessly integrate your English practice into your life.

Education & Experience

    • Majored in Psychology with a double Minor in Sociology and Childhood Development

    • Used this to shape my teaching practices with an emphasis on intuitive learning in a way that is similar to childhood language acquisition

    • Studied the Psychology of how to study and learn things in an effective and non-stressful way

    • Learned about how different cultures approach education and how societies behave in various ways

    • Completed TEFL Certification in order to pursue teaching English after graduation

  • Teaching English in private academies, mostly to kindergarten students

    • By teaching at different schools using all different curriculums, I was able to discover the best and most effective teaching methods, along with those that were not useful

    • Met my husband and helped him prepare for the TOEFL exam and write his essays for Grad School applications

    • Gained first hand experience in the struggles of living in another country where most people didn't speak my native language

    • This experience gave me insight into what it's like living in a new place AND discover the common mistakes that people make when moving to another country that may inhibit them from learning the native language

    • Learned about the US visa process while helping my husband get a Green Card to move to the US

    • Work as Scorer and Scoring Supervisor

    • Score exams for the same company that makes the TOEFL

    • Read and score essays for mainly high school students

    • Learned what kind of organization and conventions are required by the TOEFL examiners

    • Worked as an English Tutor on a large English tutoring platform

    • Tutored more than 5,820 hours to over 1,400 students

    • Many students have been Regulars for more than 3 years

    • Maintained "Super Tutor" status with a 4.99 rating for more than 2 years

    • Helped with conversation practice, job interview preparations, exam preparation, writing corrections, and more

    • Provided students with a welcoming and fun environment to help them feel comfortable and build confidence with their English

    • Teach in an English summer camp for Finnish high school students in California

    • Live with students for around 3 weeks to provide them with a fully immersive English experience

    • Provide tailored lessons to help students with vocabulary, grammar, conversation, and writing

    • When requested, provide extra instruction for students preparing for the Finnish "Matriculation Exam"

    • Online tutoring for students outside of the in-person Summer camps

    • Created Cami's English Corner in 2022!

    • A multi-platform learning experience to help you in all areas of English

    • Provide English coaching via private tutoring, YouTube videos, and helpful tips on Instagram & TikTok

    • Wanted to provide more affordable English Tutoring with more payment and scheduling flexibility than standard English education websites, along with free access to videos and tips on other social media platforms

    • Help with daily English conversation practice, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, exam preparation, writing corrections, copywrite for businesses, and more

    • Provide students with a welcoming and fun environment to help them feel comfortable and build confidence with their English

    • Create books and digital products to help students improve their English, even with a busy schedule

    • Without the restrictions of conventional English tutoring platforms, I am able to truly tailor lessons to my clients' needs and offer more services
